Squirrel – Summer Nest

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. – Hebrews 4:13 NIV

As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; … for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, – Romans 3:10, 23

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. – 1 Timothy 2:3-4

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! – 2 Corinthians 9:15

When I lived in Africa, monkeys were the most commonly seen animals capering about the trees, sometimes making a commotion and acting goofy. I miss them once in a while. Of course, I don’t miss being startled by the loud thud of coconuts dropped on my metal roof… at night…

But I digress.

Although we are now a long way from Africa, we do have the squirrels. I’ve written a bit more about our resident collectors in these posts: Red Squirrel, Snow Squirrel, Squirrels and Bird Feeders, Unity, and, Water Source.

On an early summer walkabout, Cosmos the Wonderdog alerted us to a rather unusual sight. As you can see in the above photo, the end of a squirrel’s tail is sticking out of its summer nest. I guess Mr. Squirrel must have thought that he was hidden from our sight, and that we wouldn’t even know he was there. It appears he miscalculated a bit. His mistake wasn’t costly to him. We just chuckled at his failed attempt to hide, then continued on our walk.

However, there seem to be many people who are making a very costly miscalculation concerning the above Scriptures. We’ve all been given an incredible opportunity to live a life planned by the Master Designer Himself, God Almighty. His instructions about life are in His Word, the Bible.

And according to that Good Book, there is no way any of us can stand righteously before a holy God and give an account of our lives based on our own merit or good works. When each of us stand before Him, there truly will be no place to hide. Not for any of us. The Bible is clear that we will all give account of our lives to Him… and what we did with His indescribable Gift to us so that we actually can stand righteous before Him.

If you are not sure how you can be at peace today when that time comes in your life, please see Got God?

Hope you have a great day.
