Wondrous Works and Icy Windshields

Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God. Job 37:14

Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. Psalm 111:3 (NLT).

Early the other morning, I sat waiting for my car to warm up. The temperature was right at 32 degrees F. and a thick fog blanketed our mountains. I looked through the windshield and saw the most amazing pattern of ice on the glass. I shot this quick picture with my phone before the defroster melted the ice. If I hadn’t needed to go somewhere, I’d have let the icy design stay on the rig until it melted on its own. The entire windshield had a similar pattern laced across it.

My car was not under any trees, and certainly wasn’t under any ferns!

I had to stand still and consider yet another of His works. He could have just put a layer of unremarkable ice on my windshield, but I reckon something like that is just too plain for Him. In my travels I’ve noticed God is not much into replicating things. He’s not a duplicator, He’s a Creator.

I’m told there are about 7,500,000,000 people on the planet, and none of us have the same fingerprints. Or ever will. I’ve read that out of the bazillions of snowflakes, no two have been found alike.

How does He do that?

I think He gets delight when we see His marvelous works and stand in awe of Him. Maybe that’s why He let me see this very thing that chilly morning. He knew I’d give Him the glory.

That, and to share it with you.

Have a great day.
