Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10
Water is such an amazing substance. So much of life on this planet depends on it. The ferns, moss and red cedar tree in the picture attest to that. Without water, life as we know it could not exist.
When Jesus spoke of the water which He would give us in the above Scripture, He was speaking of things in the spiritual realm, not the physical water which we see in nature. But He gave us a parallel understanding about the life which we can observe with our physical eyes. I’ve read there is more abundance of life near water than anywhere else on the planet.
The word for this abundant life is actually Zoë, which means vibrant, real, genuine, with absolute fullness, active, and vigorous. It is the kind of life Jesus came to give to us, to live in this way each day. And after this lifetime is over, to have an even better existence perfected with Him forever in Paradise.
Even with sin entering the world, and the enemy of our souls coming to steal, kill, and destroy, we can still catch occasional glimpses of this kind of vibrant life. And if you possess this everlasting life which Christ offers, the abundant life we now see around us is just a reminder that the best is yet to come.
I’m looking forward to it.
Not sure how to be assured of this everlasting life with God now, and when you breathe your last breath on this earth? See Got God?
Hope you have a great day.
