Fireworks I

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory. 1 Timothy 3:16

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”  Matthew 1:23

Photography has always been sort of a mystery to me. Back when I lived in Africa, my theory was to take as many pictures as I could and hope that at least one of them came out good. And that was before digital! With the new cameras today, I have to consciously hold back so I don’t have a bazillion pictures to sort through to find the best one.

A friend of mine is really into this photography thing. When I dare ask him a question about it, I first brace myself as if about to face a 200-mph tornado. He just can’t help himself as he gushes forth myriads of information, the vast majority of which I have little or no chance of grasping. I find my eyes glazing over as I try to remember to nod my agreement at something that might sound logical. But once in a while I latch on to a nugget of info which can help make me slightly less of an amateur at this photography business.

I think this picture is my first attempt at photographing fireworks. I’m not sure if it turned out okay or really, really bad. Maybe it’s at least interesting. Sort of…

Perhaps photography will always be a bit of a mystery to me. In the above Scriptures, the Lord gives us some insight into the mystery of Jesus coming to this earth as Immanuel – God with us. To me, it’s not just the how of this – how God sent His only begotten Son to this earth – but the why. Why would He go through what He did on that cross to pay for the sins of someone like me? To me, that’s the biggest mystery of all. Love beyond understanding.

Hope you have a great day. And keep taking those pictures – who knows, some of them might just come out good!
