Robin on Nest

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.  Psalm 34:15

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. Luke 13:34 NLT

Robins are widespread across the U.S., and their song is one of the first you’ll hear at the breaking of the day during the summer months. They are in the Thrush family, and their diet consists largely of fruit, insects, and earthworms. Many folks in rural areas of our country have seen them hopping about yards during the warmer months in search of food.

Both the male and female robin aggressively defend their nest against potential predators. In fact, sometimes I’m not even aware of a nesting robin until I get dive-bombed by one of the adults whilst I’m walking through the woods.

The robin in the above photo nested next to our carport. As you can tell by the picture, she is quite aware of my presence. It is obvious that her eyes and ears are open to who I am and what I’m doing so near to her nest.

Jesus was quite skilled at painting word-pictures when He spoke. In the above Scripture, He tells of His heart for His people, yet they would not listen to Him. Later in this same book of the Bible, Jesus was actually moved to tears when He approached the city of Jerusalem. The people there, although they’d seen His miracles or heard about what He’d done, still wouldn’t accept Him for Who He is. Jesus actually makes the important statement that they could have had peace, but because of their continued rejection of Him, it was now too late for them.

That is sobering.

I hope you have called on the One Who has His eyes on the righteous and His ears open to their cry before it is too late for you. If you are not sure how to have a relationship with Him, please see Got God?

Hope you have a great day.
