Raccoon II

Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all Psalm 34:14-19 NIV

Not long ago as I was clicking away at the keyboard, I caught a glimpse of something running past our window. For one of the few times I can remember, I managed to find my camera before the photo opportunity disappeared into the woods.

I have some night pictures of these guys on my trail cam (perhaps even one of this particular animal), but daytime sightings are rare (see Raccoon I). I’m not sure what this critter was doing cruising the neighborhood before dark, but he did appear to be running from something. I never did see anything pursuing him, but by the way he was acting, it’s quite possible that was indeed the case.

King David, who wrote the above Scripture, knew a lot about being pursued. I’ve noticed other people living for God who seem to have an endless supply of folks coming after them for one reason or another. I reckon that’s how things will always be in this fallen world.

Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12. There is a price to pay to follow Him. But as Psalm 34 states, sooner or later, He will deliver us from all our troubles.

Hope you have a great day.
