And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9
Sometimes winter can seem to go on a bit longer than usual, if there is such a thing as usual when it comes to winter. I have some friends who like to ski, and they don’t mind long, snowy winters lasting far into what most years would be considered springtime. Other people I know don’t hold the winter season in such high regard.
Lots of Vitamin C
I recently took this photo of some snow-covered rose hips. I had to reach inside the bush to get the picture, as the hips on the outer edges had already been eaten, most likely by deer or turkeys. These hips are the fruit of the rose flower, and are very high in vitamin C. In fact, during World War II, the British used to collect rose hips and use them to get vitamin C to their troops, as citrus fruit was unavailable to them.
Whatever the winter season you may be experiencing, I hope you are getting the most out of it, or at least not becoming weary. With the way God set things up, there is always the assurance of spring no matter how hard it’s snowing. And He promised we would yet reap a harvest if we don’t lose heart.
“Due season” is coming.
