Deer and the Weather – III

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5

Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers. – Proverbs 11:14 NLT

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13

“For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. – 2 Samuel 22:32-34

Have you ever walked with someone in deep snow? If you have, you soon discover a valuable lesson. Although you may want to walk side by side to better carry on a conversation, it is much more energy efficient for one to take the lead and break trail, while the other follows in their tracks. Animals do the same, and an example of that can be seen in the above photo of two deer pushing through some snow – snow which was deep enough to reach the underside of the smaller deer.

When snow gets deep, deer will often restrict their movements to trails which they’ve already established. This will allow them to move using less energy and effort during a time when food is scarce. If deep snow persists, deer will also limit their movements to areas under fir and pine trees. In places like this, the snow isn’t as deep, and if there are enough deer gathered, the trees will help trap some of the animals’ heat.

The above Scriptures speak of the value of wise leadership, and how God is strength to those who call on Him, who put their faith in Christ. That is a very good thing for someone like me, who would much rather follow Him than break trail as I wander down my own path in life.

Plus, He promises us He will never leave us of forsake us. That is a really good thing!

If you’ve never called on the One Who promises to lead and guide us and never forsake us, I encourage you to take a few moments to look at Got God?

Hope you have a great day.
