Cutthroat Trout

You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created. Revelation 4:11

It has been a while since I’ve flailed on the water with my fly rod. With all the snow and ice we’ve had this winter/spring, it was a welcome relief when I stumbled across a few of my pictures from warmer weather.

The fish in the above photo is called a westslope cutthroat trout. The orange marking under the lower jaw is the reason for the name cutthroat. However, they can be found on both sides of the continental divide and are not limited to only the western slopes of the mountains.

These trout eat mostly aquatic insects their entire lives, but larger fish, like the one pictured above, will occasionally eat small fish if given the opportunity. I managed to catch this particular trout on a small dry-fly about the size of a mosquito. As with most all the fish I catch, I released it. Who knows, perhaps our paths will cross yet another day.

For those who will look, it is not too difficult to see God’s handiwork in the outdoors. The above Scripture states that God created all things, and keeps them all going. I can’t imagine the intelligence it would take for Someone to create everything I can see and hear and feel and taste and smell when I go outside. To Him be the glory and honor and power.

Hope you have a great day.
