No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; Luke 4:18
Often when I get home from a trip to the mountains, life gets busy and I forget to look at my pictures. When I finally get around to it, I quickly delete as many as possible to save time. As I looked at this picture, I thought I’d whiffed, and caught nothing but sparkling sunlight on the water. I was about to hit the delete button, but fortunately my wife happened to look, and suggested keeping it. I think it was about then that I caught a glimpse of the bull trout making a quick escape at the edge of the photo.
To remove a bull trout from the river in which I was fishing is not legal. But since I release what I catch anyway, this fish need not have worried about me taking it captive. Of course, I knew I would release the fish, but the bull trout didn’t. So, when given the opportunity for freedom, the fish made a powerful surge with its tail, and was gone in an instant.
The above Scriptures speak of God making a way for us to escape when tempted, and Jesus having the power to heal us, proclaim liberty to captives, and set us free from oppression.
I like that a lot.
