A New Thing II

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed. – Isaiah 43:19-20 NLT

It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. – Galatians 6:15 NLT

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Once again, springtime in the mountains brings newness to a myriad of diverse plants and animals. Male white-tailed deer, like the one pictured above, begin growing antlers the first year they are born. At about 4-5 months old, their antlers appear as small buttons on top of their heads. By 1-1/2 years of age, noticeable antler growth takes place. My best guess is that the male in this picture is a very healthy 3–4-year-old.

Depending on the age of the deer and the nutrition available, antlers of white-tails can grow about ¼ inch a day. It takes about four months for them to develop to their full size in any given year. Antlers of males in one of the larger species of deer, the elk, actually grow an astounding one inch – per day! That’s a lot of growth when you consider that antlers are simply bone, covered with a thin layer of blood vessels and skin.

Could you imagine if, as you were growing up, your leg or arm grew one inch – per day! Jeepers.

And here is even something more astonishing than that: God, Almighty God, has told us in His Word that if we are in His Son Jesus, we become a completely new creation. Then we can do what He created us to do with our lives. That way, by the time we get to the end of this life on earth, our lives will have made a difference for all eternity.

If you are not sure how to become the new creation God created you to be, please see Got God?

Hope you have a great day.
