Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too
numerous to count. Psalm 40:5 (NASB)
When I was in college, many of my cohorts were big into coffee – especially in the mornings. They said they couldn’t get started for the day without one (or several) cups to get things going in their brains. I tried it once, and really liked it. But by the end of that day I realized I could easily get hooked on this stuff, and then I’d have to have it with me wherever I went. I didn’t care much for the thought of that kind of dependency, so I haven’t consumed it since then.
Whilst eating my breakfast cereal recently, I saw the above pictured quail on our old birdfeeder. As the birds are pairing up for nesting, they tend to be a bit more cautious than normal. I was quite fortunate to be able to ease up to the window and capture this photo. I don’t have many close-up pictures of both the male (right) and female together.
From what I’ve read, these quail like to forage on the ground, and will visit feeders at ground level. But for them to forage in suspended feeders like the picture above – although not unheard of – can be quite unusual in many places.
I think the pattern of color on these birds is just magnificent. And of course, there are those top feathers crowning their heads. Who needs a strong cup of coffee when you can wake up to something like this from God’s creation?
Many indeed are the wonders which He has done.
To learn how you can have a relationship with this God of creation, please see Got God?
Hope you have a great day.
