A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel. Proverbs 1:5
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days. Proverb 19:20
There seems to be no shortage of people giving advice these days. The information explosion of the internet and instant communication has brought counsel from a myriad of sources and advice can be found just about anywhere. Many people with zero experience in a given subject can now sound like experts simply by spending a little time studying information that is readily available.
Wise counsel, however, is a whole different animal.
I’ve found the chances of obtaining wise counsel in the multimedia outlets that I’ve visited to be slim at best and usually non-existent.
The Bible talks a lot about wisdom – how to obtain it, keep it, and live in it. It states that God is all-wise, and knows the end from the beginning. And since He knows what’s over the horizon for me, in the place my own eyes are too weak to see from where I now stand, I choose to read His Word and try to listen to Him for counsel and advice. I don’t always do so well at this, but I feel very fortunate to at least know where to look.
I know many people who ignore the counsel of the Bible completely. As I look at the events in the world around me, I believe that is a tragic mistake.
I hope you will give God a chance to speak wisdom and counsel into your life today through His Word. He can change your life. He has mine.
Hope you have a great day.
