Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Romans 1:20 NLT
Not too long ago I chatted with someone who told me he did not believe there is a God. I appreciated his honesty. So, I asked him what he thinks when he looks outside – when he looks at creation. Where did it all come from?
He stated that there is no way it came from any god. He believes that all gods are created by men.
Hmm.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to continue our discussion since he had to leave. He was polite, and I respect him wanting to dialog about it in a non-confrontational manner. I wish we could have talked more about this, as I’m sure I could have learned a lot.
The rather spectacular early-morning scene pictured above took place whilst my wife and I were in Alaska working with some wounded war veterans (Veterans Day -The-Beating-Heart-of-a-Patriot). These folks have been, and are continuing to go through, some extremely difficult circumstances. Surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation, many of these veterans and their spouses were asking some tough questions. And many were coming to the conclusion that there must be something more to this life than just living and dying. Experiencing God’s work in His creation can help lead many of us to some very valuable personal introspection. Perhaps that’s one of many reasons I am so drawn to His outdoor handiwork.
The choices we make in life matter a great deal. They really, really do. And not just for this life, either. According to the above Scriptures, God says that people have no excuse for not knowing Him.
That has some serious ramifications.

Wowser! Sometimes it just pays to get up early, eh?
Thanks, Kirk. Yes, it does indeed!
