Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. – John 3:16-17
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9
When I was younger, I used to take pen and paper and commence doodling whilst talking on the phone. Often when I’d look at my masterpiece of artwork after our conversation, the paper would look oddly similar to the above photo. A single line starting out going one way, then stopping and changing directions for a bit, then stopping and turning to go off in another direction.
Again. And again.
I remember looking at my drawing and thinking that I had a lot of decisions to make as to which direction to go as I started out on this journey called life. No doubt I’ve made many thousands of them since then. Some decisions have turned out well, others not so much. I have noticed things turn out a whole lot better for everyone involved when I seek to trust in the Lord and His understanding rather than in myself and my “wisdom.”
Jesus said that God loved the world so much that He sent us His only Son – Jesus Himself – so that if we will believe in Him, we can be saved from our sins and have eternal life with Him. Forever. I believe Him. Perhaps it’s too child-like to believe His words, but perhaps child-like belief isn’t all that bad in God’s eyes. And His is the only vote that counts anyway, so I’m going with what He says!
No one can believe for you, or for me either, for that matter. Not your parents, your best friend, your spouse, roommate, neighbor, etc. You have to make that free-will choice yourself, to believe in Jesus or to reject Him. He did all He could to make us right with God when He went to that cross to pay the penalty for our sins so we don’t have to.
It’s up to you.
I hope you’ll make the right choice; I really do.
It is not God’s will that any of us should perish, but that we repent – turn away from our sins – and spend eternity with Him (see above Scriptures). If you want to read a little more of what God says about this in His word, the Bible, please see Got God.
Hope you have a really great day.
