Snow Birds

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:8-11

I know some folks who like to go south for the winter. They’ve had their fill of the cold and snow, and are fortunate enough to be able to afford to travel and stay where they can escape the bitter cold for a while. Cold temperatures and snow definitely bring about changes that need to be dealt with if everyone is going to survive until the warmer days of spring.

Some birds are created to fly south for the winter while others are not. As you can tell from this picture, the wild turkeys outside my dining room window don’t migrate anywhere when the weather turns cold. These two birds sometimes stopped and shook themselves off when the snow-load they were carrying became a bit too much to bear.

For the most part, the big birds are able to deal effectively with what the winter season brings. They can usually scratch out enough food until the warmth of spring and its abundant food return once again.

The above Scripture speaks of the Word of God, and compares it to the rain and snow falling on the earth. It declares how God’s Word brings forth life and change and nourishment to all who receive it.

These Words are more than just mere human sayings being spoken or read, with more than just human understanding taking place. When God’s Word is received and acted on, things happen which are an order above the common things of this world. God says His Word will achieve what He wants it to, and will not return empty to Him.

There is a power in His Words that many never stop to consider. And what is done according to His Word will thrive and flourish whilst furthering His plan.

Hope you’ll spend some time there today.

And may you be safe and warm wherever you are.

Have a great day.
