For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed. Isaiah 43:19-20 NLT
Here’s a rather interesting bit of info: There are times and places where a dead tree can actually create and provide more habitat for wildlife than when they were alive.
Cavity nesters like woodpeckers, wrens, nuthatches, owls, etc. need dead trees to nest and rear their young. Squirrels, weasels, small rodents, bats, and even bobcats will den up in holes, or cavities in the tree. If it is a large tree with a hole at the base, black bears will sometimes use the space as a refuge in the winter months.
Easy to Miss
There are times I walk by some really cool things while I am out hiking. I know, because when I stop and make the effort to look in directions I usually don’t, I sometimes see all sorts of items that I missed just moments before. Even looking at something familiar from a different perspective can make me stop and spend some time ciphering on things.
The above passage of Scripture speaks of God providing for His people when they weren’t sure where to look or how He was going to do it. Or if He even cared enough to do anything at all.
Stuck?
If you feel a bit stuck with where you are right now, I hope you will let these Words from His book help you out today. And the next time you’re out in the woods, I hope you’ll take the time to stop and look at things from a fresh perspective. You might be amazed to perceive something that was there all along; you just didn’t see it before.
To learn how you can have a relationship with the God Who makes things new so you can be refreshed, please see Got God?
Have a great day.
