Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Each springtime in the mountains where I live, new activity seems to creep in from most every direction. Things that have looked bleak and dark and grey for months appear to take on a whole new expression of life. There are times when I don’t get very far on my hike before I start to realize all the change that is taking place around me.
More times than not, I don’t travel quite the distance I used to on any given hike, but I tend to be taking in a whole lot more now than before.
Throughout the Bible we are told that God will change us if we will humble ourselves and follow Him. He will make things new, give us a heart that is pleasing to Him, and make our lives count for Him and His kingdom.
I don’t know of too many things in the outdoors that go through as radical a change as a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly.
Metamorphosis some scientist like to call it. A complete transformation.
In the Bible, God says it is a life that puts Him first. A life that counts. A life that matters, truly matters, for all eternity.
I know there are many who want no part of this, as life lived with self in the center is too strong a lure for many to desire living another way. But when you consider the horrific price that was paid to actually set us free from the mind-set of self in the center, it should get our attention.
Perhaps there truly is something better.
There is, and I’m so grateful that He opened my eyes to the Truth of His Son.
See Got God?
Have a great day.
