Psalm 103:1-5 NIV knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. – 1 Peter 1:18-19 Some of my earliest memories in …

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.
You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive… Psalm 68:18 Well no sooner did I post how evasive these blue-tailed skinks are than I manage to catch one in my own little hands! I was digging around the yard one day and lifted up the corner of a tarp to find this beautiful lizard. Had he been in leaves or grass, he would have easily escaped. But as it was, the skink was surrounded by nothing but bare dirt. So I scooped him up for a moment, and my wife captured this picture. Then I laid my hand …

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:15 Not sure why, but I’ve always liked frogs. Perhaps they remind me of summertime – school was out and I was relatively free to roam the woods and fields and lakes and streams – searching out critters to investigate. I recently found this frog hiding in my garden hose reel. I’m uncertain why he decided to climb about five feet off the …

Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? Job 11:7 We lived in our home a long time before we ever saw one of these critters, though I think we heard them many years prior to seeing one. Often when we’d walk out on our back patio in the summer, we’d hear something dart through the dry leaves. Then we finally started catching a glimpse of these lightning fast lizards. Lizards are cold-blooded, which means they cannot regulate their own body temperature. They are dependent on the surrounding environmental temperature. That’s why they …

Now may the God who gives endurance and who supplies encouragement grant that you be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus Romans 15:5Amplified Bible (AMP) When I’m outdoors, I often see some rather interesting things. Not always spectacular, perhaps, but remarkable nonetheless. At least to me. We had a lot of snow this winter, and water from the snowmelt above us was trying to make its way into our home. So I commenced to digging a ditch to divert the extra water. Not glamorous work, but it did get me outside. There was still some …
