When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. Isaiah 43:2
I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins. Luke 6:47-49 (NLT)
Springtime can bring many things to those living in the northern mountains. Usually the sight of grass and groundcover is welcome after months of cold and snow. But when the snow turns to rain for an extended period of time, rivers rise and floods can take place.
I was driving to one of my favorite spring hiking places when I noticed something amiss in the river up ahead. I don’t know the story behind this picture, but no doubt the foundation of this building was not enough to handle the water which came against it.
The above Scriptures speak of the Lord being with those who have a foundation in Him as they travel through the various trials and troubles of this world. I know of some folks who have been though a lot, yet their faith in Christ has remained steadfast. And when all is said and done, God has proven Himself true time and again.
Imagine that.
I hope you have put your faith in Him. If you’re not sure about that, please see Got God?
And I hope you have a great day.
