He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens at His discretion. Jeremiah 10:12
Early autumn is an interesting time in the mountains where I live. Things happen that are unique to this time of year and make for some interesting hikes.
Besides the leaves beginning to change color, many animals are preparing for winter in one way or another. And it’s also breeding season for much of the big game that live nearby. Females of many species will carry their developing young over the winter so they can be born during times of lush vegetation in the springtime.
I was fortunate enough recently to be in the heart of the mountains with Stardog and hear an elk bugle. The males, or bulls, do this to attract females and to notify other bulls that they are in the area. I was too slow to record the sound, but here is a link from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation of a bugling elk. It never ceases to amaze me that this sound comes out of an animal that looks like an elk. That, along with the fact that the sound is incredibly loud. When a bull is close to me as he bugles, it will actually make my ears ring long after he’s finished.
The above Scripture states that it is by God’s wisdom that He created things like elk. I don’t think I could have thought up an animal like an elk in a million years, let alone the sounds they make.
Yet God did.
I reckon He had fun creating an elk, don’t you think?
Hope you have a great day.
