Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Grayling aren’t new to the world, just new to me. They like cold water. I mean, like really cold water. (Notice my red fingers in the photo). A few years ago I was given the opportunity to try to catch some of these fish on a fly rod for the first time. This year I was given yet another chance. The grayling didn’t disappoint, and the Lord blessed me with some very nice fish. As I almost always do wherever I fish, I released them all. Who knows, maybe if I ever get another chance, they’ll be still bigger the next time around.
Many of the places I’ve been fortunate enough to travel have been south of where I live. Places like Africa and Central America. It never crossed my mind that someday I might find myself so far north that arctic grayling would be swimming around in the streams.
The above Scripture speaks of an amazing transformation which takes place when a person repents of his sin and puts his trust in Jesus. That is what being “in Christ” means. Old things pass away. All things become new. You are given a new shot at life, one that truly matters.
I don’t know how God does this, I just know He does. And I don’t know what you might be facing this new year, but God does. If you’ve never called on Him to forgive you and give you a new beginning, I hope you will. Or if you’ve done that before but strayed off the path He has for you, I hope you will come back to Him. He’s still in the business of making all things new.
Hope you have a great day and wonderful New Year.
