Backyard Buck

The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. No king is saved by the multitude of an army; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety; neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Let your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, just as we hope in You. Psalm 33:13-22

Do you ever get the feeling that someone is looking at you? I walked out to my garden one day this summer and noticed that I was being watched. I am surprised this buck allowed me to get as close as I did, but perhaps he realized I was no threat to him. He sure posed for a nice picture. I hope he’ll remember this place at the first of the year and come back to drop his antlers in the same spot.

It could happen.

Sometimes in the rush of this world it is easy to forget (or chose not to believe) that we are not alone in this life, and that there is Someone Who is watching. But the above Scripture, along with a myriad of others, tells us something about that. We really are not alone, and there is Someone Who sees.

The major breakthrough for me came when I realized that the One Who watches not only sees, but cares about me more than words can ever express. If I ever doubt that, all I need to do is look at the cross of Christ and the price He paid so I could be forgiven of my sins. (See Got God? ).

I try to never take for granted that I am blessed to live in a place where I can see sights like the above picture out the back window of our home. The same goes for remembering what God did to get me right with Him. May I never take that for granted.

Amazing beyond words. And I am so grateful.

Have a great day.
