Autumn in the Mountains – Fall Colors II

Daniel answered and said: Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him. Daniel 2:20-22

Cool weather and shorter day-length are once again having an effect on the mountains where I love to live. As I took this picture, sounds of the stream sliding over dark rocks filled the air. I recalled seeing a rather large bear next to this stream a few years earlier. Remembering that exciting event, with my hearing diminished by the noise of the moving water, I stole several extra looks behind me to see if the coast was clear.

I’d say Mr. Bear’s got a pretty cool place to live.

As I’d explained in an earlier post, the brilliant colors pictured above were already here during summer. They are just now being revealed by the change of season (see Fall Colors). The chlorophyll in the leaves – which is green – breaks down in the fall, revealing a myriad of underlying shades of tint and color. God could have made the world in black and white, and we’d have never known. But He loves us so much, He gave us lots of color, and I’m glad He did.

I think it fascinating to understand some of the science behind the color change in the autumn season, but even more remarkable to me is the God Who created all this and set it in motion. And we also know from His Word that He holds it all together.

The above Scripture speaks of the One Who changes the times and the seasons.

Man can’t do that.

I’m glad I know the One Who can.

I hope you know Him too. See Got God?  ?

Have a great day.
